Can anybody recommend me a camera, preferably a digital?

        August 27th, 2011

I need to get a good camera for photography purposes, but I’m completeley lost with all the different sorts of cameras you can buy. SLR, Wide-Angle lens, I don’t know the difference with any of them.

So, can anyone recommend me a specific sort of camera I should get, based on the following:

Price: doesn’t really matter, willing to spend £200+ if I have to.
Purpose: Photography, not quick snap holiday photos (but ironically i want to take it on holiday with me). It’s for my Art course and I’m also going to make it a long term thing as well, so quality must be high
Brand: Not bothered, althought I have heard that Canon cameras are the deities in the camera world

Oh, and I would like it to be digital.

I have always had a camera so it’s not as if I have had no experience with photography, I just am unsure of what sort of camera I should get. Are dSLR’s the best choice? on wikipedia and they don’t seem that bad, but I would like your opinions.

A question about using more than one camera lens?

Suppose that a camera has a 5X lens. If I attach a 3X lens onto that one, would the total magnification be 8X or 15X? Do you add or do you multiply the magnifications?

Good lens for portrait photography for my Canon Rebel XSI?

                August 23rd, 2011

Okay so I’m investing in a new lens. I’m still fairly new to photography, but the kit lens is really not that great and telephoto is of course not appropriate for portraiture. I’m hoping to get something somewhat versatile, that I can use in more than one situation that’s NOT people, but I do prefer portraits.

So what specs should I look for, and what are the best lenses for this sort of thing? I heard a wide angle would be a good bet. I also want a lens that can provide me with good bokeh, and a large f-stop. But it still has to be affordable.

I’m looking to spend around 0. But if it’s over my price range, that’s okay, all suggestions are welcome! Please explain why this lens would be optimal, it’s sort of a big investment for a student to make.

I need something that would be good in low lighting, for sure, also.

                Thank you in advance.

                  Canon Photo Printer Selphy

DISCOUNT LINK WWW.AMAZON.COM Customer Reviews: “What do you call people like me? Photo-aspirants? I’m not a professional photographer. But I shoot images all the time, sometimes a dozen or two a day, trying to create a picture other people will find curious, entertaining, weird, surprising, silly, shocking: “refrigerator-quality,” I guess. Kris Hermanns told me her mother had a device like this, that printed postcards from digital cameras. I bought it on that slight recommendation. I had a new Canon PowerShot A620. I had a trip to France on the calendar. Kismet. I’ve always used film. I was a film snob: I wanted beautiful images. The first photo that came off this Selphy CP730 printer blew me across the room. The color was intense, perfect, gorgeous; and in my hand in less than a minute, printed on glossy stock with a postcard back. I compared it to a film print and couldn’t tell the difference. It was this printer, in fact, that convinced me that digital photography was as good as film. Not just “as good as” — better, because of the control you have over color. Anybody want some aging, unexposed film? I’ve never gone back. My system (which I sometimes pack up and travel with) includes my Canon digital camera, the Selphy printer, my MacBook loaded with iPhoto (which allows me to manipulate). It’s a seamless, no-issues production process. I often pump out a half-dozen curious images a day, to send to friends, colleagues, family. It keeps me in touch with them at low cost
