Canon Macro Photography compilation. Flies / Diptera insects

A compilation of macro photos taken of various fly species. It is interesting to see all the fine and interesting details of an insect that is usually seen as quite unattractive. Equiptment used: Canon 50D, Mp-e 65mm macro lens + mr-14ex flash Also used for some photos, canon 60mm macro lens with 68mm of extension tubes. Specifications: Majority of shots at iso100 f/10 1/200s with various magnification from 1x-5x Music track: Still life for the woodpecker, Anatarctica, by Ian Tamblyn.

      about 1/2 taken with canon mp-e65mm and the other half with canon 60mm macro+ 68mm extension tubes.

      You can get all these shots with a macro lens that goes to 1:1 magnification then add extension tubes and you will need a flash. :)

      I amazes me what people can do anymore, I mean These are great, please tell me what camera you used, I know i still needs to aquire the skills to take pictures like this, but its truely amazing, I really want to be an entomologist!

      Im wondering if those photos were taken handheld cause its really disadvantageous in some way setting up a tripod when doing insect macro, might lose the opportunity before the tripod is set. Thanks.
