How well do Canon FD to EF lens adapters work?
My Dad has 4 Canon FD lenses and i am looking into buying a Canon Rebel XT from a friend. i know that certain things such as auto zoom will be lost but how well do the adapters work? I was thinking that i could buy one modern lens to use in general and then switch between the FDs for certain situations. I just want to know if this is a good idea or not and what will be lost in the adaption?
also what lens adapter is the best?

Not a good idea. The adapter will contain a small glass piece that would enable focusing to infinity. That glass piece however will degrade picture quality.
