Low Light Photography | Light Painting | Canon 600D 18-55mm | Lumix LX5 | Slow Shutter Speed

February 5th, 2012

Some low light & some light-painting photographs i took with my Canon 600D / Rebel T3i and my Lumix LX5. Both are great cameras, ofcourse the lx5 is a lot smaller, and the 600d delivers better image quality, especially in movie-mode. I put some EPIC music in the background, lol. if you enjoyed…

Good lens for portrait photography for my Canon Rebel XSI?

        August 23rd, 2011

Okay so I’m investing in a new lens. I’m still fairly new to photography, but the kit lens is really not that great and telephoto is of course not appropriate for portraiture. I’m hoping to get something somewhat versatile, that I can use in more than one situation that’s NOT people, but I do prefer portraits.

So what specs should I look for, and what are the best lenses for this sort of thing? I heard a wide angle would be a good bet. I also want a lens that can provide me with good bokeh, and a large f-stop. But it still has to be affordable.

I’m looking to spend around 0. But if it’s over my price range, that’s okay, all suggestions are welcome! Please explain why this lens would be optimal, it’s sort of a big investment for a student to make.

I need something that would be good in low lighting, for sure, also.

        Thank you in advance.

What type of camera lens should I buy to upgrade from the kit lens with on my Canon Rebel SLR?

          August 20th, 2011

I purchased a Canon Rebel about a year ago. Since then I have been shooting with my kit lens (18-55mm) that came with it. Photography is just a hobby for me now…but I LOVE it, and hope to maybe go professional one day. Right now tho, I am a broke teacher’s assistant pursuing an Elementary Ed. Degree.

I want to upgrade my camera lens, without breaking the bank. I would LOVE a wide angle lens, but my budget is in between 0-0. I know I won’t get the GREATEST lens in the world for this price…but I do want something better than what I have now.

I mostly shout outdoors. I also mostly shoot portraits. (So far I think I would described as a "natural light" photographer.) I have no lenses other than the kit lens that came with my camera, and I also have no external equipment. (Flashes, etc.)

What should be my next lens? I have been pretty pleased with most of my pictures so far…but I want to take it to the next level!

          Suggestions please!

I am looking for good wide angle lens for panoramic landscape photography. I want something not too expensive, and prefer with less fish-eye effect (less distortion). Here are some good examples of the kind of pictures I want to take.

How come digital photos from the same lens/camera take up different amounts of memory?

                June 23rd, 2011

I have a Canon Rebel XT camera. Some photos (Jpegs) only take up about 1.2MB while others take up 6MP. Why is there variation when the same camera/lens is taken for each photo? Also, Canon XT is an 8mp Camera. Shouldn’t each photo be 8mp? Thanks!!!

PS: Photoshop tends to increase the memory of a photo. Why is that?

Getting a lot of questions about the differences between the Canon Rebel T2i and the Canon Rebel T3i, with the T3i costing 0-0 more. While they look and feel very similar, the T3i has 4 great features which I feel definitely justifies this price difference. This video gives a quick run down on these differences. Enjoy!
