Photographer Lou Nemeth–”Available Light Man”–remembered – DC photographer pocket video

December 5th, 2011

Lou Nemeth, who photographed the liberation of Buchenwald to the legends of Broadway, passed away this week. In a September 2010 conversation in the New York Times lobby, he tells about making an iconic image of Louis Armstrong and Mitch Miller and the progression from Speed graphic to pocket digital cameras like the one that caught this moment (Ricoh CX-1, the first CMOS compact). Canon Photo Printer Selphy

DISCOUNT LINK WWW.AMAZON.COM Customer Reviews: “What do you call people like me? Photo-aspirants? I’m not a professional photographer. But I shoot images all the time, sometimes a dozen or two a day, trying to create a picture other people will find curious, entertaining, weird, surprising, silly, shocking: “refrigerator-quality,” I guess. Kris Hermanns told me her mother had a device like this, that printed postcards from digital cameras. I bought it on that slight recommendation. I had a new Canon PowerShot A620. I had a trip to France on the calendar. Kismet. I’ve always used film. I was a film snob: I wanted beautiful images. The first photo that came off this Selphy CP730 printer blew me across the room. The color was intense, perfect, gorgeous; and in my hand in less than a minute, printed on glossy stock with a postcard back. I compared it to a film print and couldn’t tell the difference. It was this printer, in fact, that convinced me that digital photography was as good as film. Not just “as good as” — better, because of the control you have over color. Anybody want some aging, unexposed film? I’ve never gone back. My system (which I sometimes pack up and travel with) includes my Canon digital camera, the Selphy printer, my MacBook loaded with iPhoto (which allows me to manipulate). It’s a seamless, no-issues production process. I often pump out a half-dozen curious images a day, to send to friends, colleagues, family. It keeps me in touch with them at low cost

If I use a Film Use pro Camera lens with a digital pro camera, will it work? My dad has a Nikon N2020 and I was wondering if we can just remove the really long lens of the camera and fit it onto a digital Pro. camera’s body. The lens is pretty long and kindof expensive but now since digital cameras are here, I dont want to replace the lens. Any help please?

Will old Sigma lens for Minolta Maxxum 35mm camera fit any good digital cameras?

        August 10th, 2011

I have a Sigma auto-focus camera lens that had been used on a Minolta Maxxum 5000 SLR camera. The camera is now gone, but the lens remains. It is a 70mm – 210mm zoom lens with an F4 – F5.6 aperture. I don’t want to go back to film, but that lens worked great. Are there any digital camera that it will fit?

Are there any digital cameras priced $200-300 that come with a fish eye lens or have the functionality of one?

          August 8th, 2011

I’m not a heavy-duty professional photographer, and I don’t have the time or money to research and pay for a 0-0 D-SLR camera and match it with the correct fish-eye wide angle lens. In fact, I do most of my photography on my iPhone’s camera, my cheap-o Sony point-and-shoot (DSC-W55), or Polaroids. However, I have recently taken a great bit of interest in the trendy look of a shot taken by a fish-eye lens.

So my question is: on a budged of about 0-0, are there any digital cameras out there that can take a decent fish-eye picture by default or by fairly simple (and inexpensive) upgrade?

(Note: I would prefer to not be recommended a point-and-shoot with a gimmicky after-effect filter that simulates a fish-eye lens style photo.)

          Thanks so much in advance!

I really like the effect that the wide angle lens give to everyday photos, portraits, street photography, photos of dogs…etc. And of course – photos of buildings/scenery (although they’re kinda boring)
