DSLR wide angle lens?

December 8th, 2010

I have a Canon XTi and I don’t know much about wide angle lenses. My camera came with 2 lenses, one appears to be JUST a macro lens and the other a telephoto.

Two questions.. maybe 3?

1) Is there a NORMAL wide angle that goes directly onto the XTI? I’ll add one to my telephoto if I have to but I want a normal zoom. The other question is, IS there one for the telephoto lens?
2) What’s a NORMAL lens? Like I said I have a macro and 70-300mm telephoto. What’s NORMAL? Just an every day lens for like birthdays and things like that?

The Tamron AF70-300mm F/4-5.6 or the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens….Which is better?

November 11th, 2010

I own a Canon 20D and a 10D digital Cameras. I have an old Canon EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 zoom lens that I bought back in 1996! So I know this lens was never designed for digital SLR cams. I’m on a very limited budget so I need to know which of these lens is better. The Tamron is in my reach more so then the Canon USM lens. But I want to get the best of the two. Obliviously the more expensive lens would work better. So my question, which of these two is the better lens to invest in.
