What camera lens would be the best for me to buy?

    January 11th, 2011

I asked this already in the camera section but I was hoping you guys in Photography could help me out as well…

I have the Canon EOS Rebel T1i…Right now I have the standard 18-55 mm lens but I’m looking for something with more clarity & that has more zoom. If that makes any sense. I mostly do portraits but I occasionally do nature photography as well…

    Help.

I want to buy a wide angle lens, advice on buying?

    January 5th, 2011

My mother used to have an old Nikon film camera, one of the lens she had for it was a wide angle lense. It was really good, it couldn’t zoom thought. I don’t really know much about lenses, but I have a fair bit of extra cash so I would like to start saving up. I have £200 at the moment, but could save up to about £350 within six months with my job. (I’m fourteen)

I googled it just now, and got really mixed results of loads of different types. So am a little confused. I have a Canon 350D, with two other lenses, and a flash. I am really keen to start a career in photography when I am older, this isn’t just on a whim.

So yes, any advice on buying?

This is a picture taken with my mums wide angle lens on her nikon(at least I think its this one), in case it helps at all. We sold the lens, so I don’t know anything about it.

Can someone explain the different kind of camera lenses available for D-SLR cameras?

    December 11th, 2010

I am looking to purchase a Nikon D40 and there are several kits available that comes with extra lenses. I am only just beginning to get into photography and do not understand what each lens does. The camera comes standard with a 18-55 mm lens. But there are kits with 55-200 mm lenses or telephoto lenses or wide angle lenses…

Could someone explain to me what each Lens is used for so I can get a better sense of which lens is the best for me?

    Macro photography's lens?

    November 26th, 2010

I’m venturing into macro photography and looking to buy a suitable lens.

I’ve seen photos of insects that are extremely close up such that you are able to see its every strand of hair and eyes etc and they were taken with macro lenses of 100 mm focal length.

The problem is macro lenses are too expensive for me. Instead, can canon close up lens or vitacon wide angle+macro lens of lesser focal length such as 50 mm take such a huge close up of the insect too? Let’s say the insect won’t be scared away easily.

I’m aware the photo quality won’t be the same but as long as it can get the huge close up. I’m wondering is it they use macro lens plus a close up lens to achieve the really close up result.

Also, which is more recommendable? Canon close up lens or Vitacon WA+macro lens?

    I’m using Canon 500D.

Canon EOS Digital with Canon FD lens. What is the flaw? And diff between Canon 50mm FD vs. EF?

    November 14th, 2010

I’m looking to use a Canon FD 50mm 1.4 with a bower FD to EF converter.

What will i be expecting? I heard i won’t be able to change the F-stop on the camera.

If i do want to change the F stop, what do i do?

And also, what is the main difference on the Canon EF 50mm 1.4 and the Canon FD 50mm 1.4 ?

any difference in the images? what is the main difference from your experiences or research?

all i can find on good is that the built quality on FD is better but they all say it’s about the same. but

it couldn’t be the same because of the time gap between those 2 lenses are extraordinary.

I will be using this lens on the Canon 5D so let me know thanks!!!

    Why buy wide angle lens?

And all the answers say that my kit lens (18-55mm f/3.5-5.6) are good enough for landscape photography at its shorter focal lengths. But that makes me wonder why people are willing to buy much more expensive lens such as
