I got a response for a photography job opening, it says that I’m required to have a strong flash and a wide angle lens. I’m not sure I’m even going to land the job even if I do get the lens… so I’m hoping to get a good kind that’s not outrageous like the 0 ones.

Is it worth taking up these offers on a macro and zoom lens?

        September 1st, 2011

        I use a Nikon D3000, and with it came vouchers for £50 off a "35MM F1.8G AF-S DX for D3000 + AF-S DX 18-55VR" and £45 off a
        "55-200MM F4.5-5.6G AF-S VR DX BLACK for D3000 + AF-S DX 18-55VR"

After some searching in Google I worked out that’s about £50 total for the zoom lens, and about £70 for the macro? I want a macro and zoom lens since I’m currently doing all types of photography, but are these actually worth buying? Seems way too cheap for a zoom or macro lens.

I’m doing live photographs of bands, promo for bands, modelling, landscapes, nature photography.

The only down sides I could find in reviews were that they *felt* cheap, and you had to look after them well – these aren’t really problems for me. At that price I’m willing to put up with it feeling a little tacky, as long as I still get some great pictures. But if these lenses are actually crap, I’ll probably go for a wide-angle lens like the Sigma 10-20mm, since this would be useful for band promo and dereliction projects. But getting a zoom lens AND macro would really help to vary my work further – at the moment I only have the 35-50mm standard kit lens.

Also, I don’t know what the "+ AF-S DX 18-55VR" means – does this mean the autofocus is limited?

Thanks for any help, will choose best answer.

Can anybody recommend me a camera, preferably a digital?

            August 27th, 2011

I need to get a good camera for photography purposes, but I’m completeley lost with all the different sorts of cameras you can buy. SLR, Wide-Angle lens, I don’t know the difference with any of them.

So, can anyone recommend me a specific sort of camera I should get, based on the following:

Price: doesn’t really matter, willing to spend £200+ if I have to.
Purpose: Photography, not quick snap holiday photos (but ironically i want to take it on holiday with me). It’s for my Art course and I’m also going to make it a long term thing as well, so quality must be high
Brand: Not bothered, althought I have heard that Canon cameras are the deities in the camera world

Oh, and I would like it to be digital.

I have always had a camera so it’s not as if I have had no experience with photography, I just am unsure of what sort of camera I should get. Are dSLR’s the best choice? on wikipedia and they don’t seem that bad, but I would like your opinions.

What type of camera lens should I buy to upgrade from the kit lens with on my Canon Rebel SLR?

                August 20th, 2011

I purchased a Canon Rebel about a year ago. Since then I have been shooting with my kit lens (18-55mm) that came with it. Photography is just a hobby for me now…but I LOVE it, and hope to maybe go professional one day. Right now tho, I am a broke teacher’s assistant pursuing an Elementary Ed. Degree.

I want to upgrade my camera lens, without breaking the bank. I would LOVE a wide angle lens, but my budget is in between 0-0. I know I won’t get the GREATEST lens in the world for this price…but I do want something better than what I have now.

I mostly shout outdoors. I also mostly shoot portraits. (So far I think I would described as a "natural light" photographer.) I have no lenses other than the kit lens that came with my camera, and I also have no external equipment. (Flashes, etc.)

What should be my next lens? I have been pretty pleased with most of my pictures so far…but I want to take it to the next level!

                Suggestions please!

What would be the best lens/es for me?

                  August 16th, 2011

OK so basically, I have a number of things I need/want to shoot, and I need to buy some more lenses. I am on a pretty tight budget though so if anyone could give me a list of lenses (preferably a short list of multi purpose lenses) that would be awesome!!
                  1. I want to shoot macro photography so I need a macro lens. Does a macro lens have to be used just for macro shots or can it double up?
                  2. A wide-angle lens for landscapes
                  3. a Reasonable telephoto lens that goes to maybe 300mm for wildlife
                  4. A nice all round lens for portraits/landsscapes

So what is the minimum number of lenses to buy that will cover all of these?
I am a pentax user, so if you could list only lenses supplied by pentax for sigma/tamron etc for pentax

                  THANKS SO MUCH!!!
